WIFI and Mesh solutions

Slow, patchy Wi-Fi or rooms that drop out? We help Gold Coast homes and offices get fast, stable coverage, either on-site or via a quick remote session. Fixed-price options, friendly service, and same-day, where possible.

Wi-Fi & mesh help (homes & small business)

Whole-home coverage (without the dead zones)

We test your NBN connection, map weak spots, and design a simple layout that actually reaches the bedrooms, granny flat or office. We’ll recommend the right gear (router or mesh) and place it properly so you get reliable bars everywhere.

GC Tech tip: put your main router high and central (not in a cupboard or behind the TV). Even 1–2 metres can make a big difference.

Mesh vs range extenders (and why mesh wins)

Extenders create separate networks that hand off poorly (separate networks fighting for your device's connection). Mesh systems (e.g., TP-Link Deco, eero, Orbi, Google Nest, Asus AiMesh) share one name and hand your devices between nodes smoothly.

GC Tech tip: if you already own an extender, rename it to match your main Wi-Fi and enable “same SSID” only if the product supports seamless roaming; otherwise, consider switching to true mesh.

Make your current Wi-Fi feel new again

You don’t always need new hardware. We update firmware, optimise channels, tidy up SSIDs, and remove old settings that confuse devices.

GC Tech tip: aim for one network name for all mesh nodes; avoid specials like emojis or spaces. Keep it short and simple.

Speed, latency, gaming & streaming optimisation

We prioritise traffic so Netflix or Zoom stops stuttering and Rocket League pings stay low. Where possible we use Ethernet or “wired backhaul” between mesh nodes for maximum speed.

GC Tech tip: if you can, run one Ethernet cable from the modem/router to a central mesh node. Wired backhaul often doubles real-world speed.

2.4 GHz, 5 GHz & Wi-Fi 6/6E in plain English

2.4 GHz travels further (great for smart plugs), 5 GHz is faster nearby (great for phones/TVs). Wi-Fi 6/6E adds efficiency and speed for busy homes. We set bands so devices pick the best one automatically.

GC Tech tip: if older IoT gear won’t join, temporarily disable 5 GHz during setup or create a separate “IoT-only” 2.4 GHz network.

Smart home & IoT (internet of things) that just works

We connect cameras, doorbells and sensors without breaking the rest of your network. If needed, we isolate IoT on a guest/VLAN for safety while keeping the app controls working.

GC Tech tip: keep your main Wi-Fi password unique and long; give visitors a Guest network instead.

Security & parental controls made simple

We turn on WPA3 where supported, set a Guest network, and add basic protections (auto-updates, DNS filtering, safe-search, ad/tracker blocks). Family features like Bedtime/Downtime are simple once they’re set right.

GC Tech tip: change the router’s admin password (not just the Wi-Fi password). Save it somewhere safe.

NBN modem vs router vs mesh (who does what?)

Your NBN modem brings the internet in; the router/mesh shares it around your place. Many “all-in-one” boxes are average at Wi-Fi. Pairing a solid router or mesh with your NBN box often fixes years of pain.

GC Tech tip: if you upgrade to mesh, turn off the old modem’s Wi-Fi to avoid interference (“bridge” or “wireless off” mode).
