Wireless camera help (homes and small business)
Smart camera setup without the headaches
We install and pair your cameras, connect to your Wi-Fi or NVR, set time zones, and confirm you can view from your phone and laptop. We also set roles for family or team so only the right people have access.
GC Tech tip: unbox near the router for first pairing, update firmware, then move the camera to its final spot. Test live view before you grab the ladder.
Placement that actually captures faces and plates
Height and angle matter more than megapixels. We position cameras to avoid backlight and glare, capture faces at eye level near entries, and cover driveways without only seeing car roofs.
GC Tech tip: place about 2 to 2.5 metres high, aim across likely paths instead of straight on, and avoid pointing into bright skies or windows.
Wi-Fi, mesh & 2.4 GHz onboarding
Most cameras prefer 2.4 GHz for range. Mesh is great, but band steering can confuse onboarding. We make pairing smooth, then let the network manage roaming.
GC Tech tip: during setup, temporarily enable a 2.4 GHz only SSID or turn off 5 GHz for five minutes, then switch it back once the camera joins.
Motion alerts you can live with
Endless pings are why people disable cameras. We create activity zones, adjust sensitivity, and turn on person or vehicle detection where supported.
GC Tech tip: set schedules for high traffic times, for example school pick up, and lower sensitivity in windy areas to cut false alarms.
Doorbells, chimes & smart displays
We pair your video doorbell, connect it to chimes, and show pop ups on smart displays or TVs (where applicable). We also set package detection and quick replies.
GC Tech tip: if your doorbell has patchy connection or drops out, consider getting a mesh Wi-Fi system to get your internet connection closer.
Sharing, privacy & account security
We add two step login, remove old devices, and set viewing permissions for family or staff. Guest access can be view only, no settings.
GC Tech tip: use a unique email and a long password for your camera account, then store recovery codes in a password manager.
Weather, night vision & image quality
We enable WDR for backlit scenes, set IR brightness to avoid whiteout on close walls, and add small hooding to reduce rain glare where needed.
GC Tech tip: keep lenses clean with a microfiber cloth, monthly is fine. Dust and spider webs cause more false alerts than you think.
